Iranians were really excited to welcome the arrival Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the Persepolis vs Al Nassr in the group phase of the Asian Champions League, Wednesday (20/9) early morning WIB.
Ronaldo and Al Nassr players arrived in Tehran, Iran, Monday (18/9). The arrival of CR7 and friends was accompanied by extraordinary enthusiasm by football fans there.
This is known from viral video uploads on social media. Iranian citizens welcomed Luis Castro’s team from the airport to the hotel where they were staying.
Hundreds of people even crowded the streets around Tehran. They even followed the bus carrying the Al Nassr squad while running.
Ronaldo also seemed to respond to the great enthusiasm of Iranian fans. The winner of five Ballon d’Or titles was even seen waving at Iranians from the bus carrying the Al Nassr players.
Even as uploaded by the account @SaudiPLfaround three thousand people were seen crowding the area in front of the hotel where the Al Nassr players were staying.
“More than three thousand people were in front of the Al Nassr hotel. They were chanting Ronaldo’s name. Something extraordinary and historic,” wrote the account.
Ronaldo is just one step away from making history by appearing in the Asian Champions League for the first time. In the group phase, Al Nassr joined Persepolis, Al-Duhail and Istiklol.
