Facial recognition
Recently, the number of arrests by the deputy team has increased and action has been taken with more vigor. President Raisi signed a decree last month with far-reaching consequences for women if they fail to comply with the strict dress code.
Iran is also working on facial recognition software to find out if women are wearing headscarves correctly. The technology should be used in public transport in particular.
The hijab has been mandatory since the Iranian revolution in 1979, but Iranian women are increasingly pushing boundaries by only partially covering their hair and neck with a veil.
