Dubai. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Saturday called on Muslims to “support the Lebanese people and the proud Hezbollah with all the means at your disposal and help them confront the (…) evil regime (of Israel). )”.
Speaking after the Israeli army announced the death of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah, Khamenei said that “the fate of this region will be determined by the resistance forces, with Hezbollah at the helm,” according to state media.
After Hezbollah confirmed Nasrallah’s death, Iranian media reported that General Abbas Nilforoushan, deputy commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, perished “alongside Nasrallah” in Friday’s Israeli attacks on southern Beirut.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani promised in a message on the X social network that “Nasrallah’s path will continue and his holy goal will come true in the liberation of Jerusalem.”
Meanwhile, two regional officials briefed by Tehran told Reuters that Khamenei was moved to a safe location inside the country with heightened security measures.
The sources stated that Iran is in constant contact with Hezbollah and other regional groups to determine the next step after Nasrallah’s death.
