THE LORD – A university professor near the institution Iran Masoud Asadollahi, has been charged in court after claiming on state television that Iranian intermediaries bought Hezbollah pagers that exploded last month.

Masoud Asadollahi, a professor at IRGC-affiliated Imam Hussein University, made the comments as an “expert” on a state TV program. He said an Iranian company bought 5,000 pagers and 3,000 were given to Hezbollah without the necessary inspection because no one expected the pagers to explode.

He did not name a source or elaborate on where the other 2,000 devices used in the attack came from.

According to Al Jazeera, Asadollahi could face charges related to publishing false information to negatively influence public opinion, or even going against national security, according to an official press release Iranian judges. He is said to have admitted he was wrong.

This comes a day after Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization banned receivers and walkie-talkies on commercial flights, according to local media.

Later, Iran International reported that during a live broadcast on Iranian state TV, Masoud Asadollahi, a former IRGC Quds Force commander, made comments claiming that an Iranian company bought pagers from a Taiwanese supplier. half of Hezbollah, which later provoked controversy and denial.

“They (Hezbollah) already have thousands of callers … but they need three or four thousand new subscribers. They asked Iranian companies to place orders. Hezbollah said they could not make the purchase because it would raise suspicion. The company negotiated with a famous Taiwanese brand that usually produces pagers and ordered 5,000 pagers. The pager was sent to an Iranian company. “The pager was then handed over to Hezbollah,” Asadollahi said.

The device then exploded in September, killing at least 42 people linked to Hezbollah and injuring more than 3,000 in what has been described as Hezbollah’s most significant security breach since its conflict with Israel escalated in October 2023.

Many questions have been raised about how Israel was able to manage the devices, and some Israeli reports said that the pager deal was handled by a Mossad front company.
