Iranian passenger plane was hijacked, had moved to the southern coast of the Persian Gulf

ISFAHAN, KOMPAS.TV An Iran Air passenger plane experiences a hijacking. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) claims the hijackers attempted to divert the plane’s flight to the southern coast of the Persian Gulf.

The Fokker 100 aircraft was supposed to fly to the northwestern city of Mashhad from the city of Ahvaz in southwestern Iran on Thursday (4/3/2021) at 19:15 local time. The plane was hijacked while flying over Iran.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have declared the hijacking a failure. The plane made an emergency landing in the city of Isfahan.

“The authorities thwarted attempts to hijack an airplane that was in flight,” said the announcement of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, reported by the Daily Mail.

There were no reports of injuries or deaths from the incident.

“The passengers on the plane, who are in good health, flew to their (last) destination on an alternative flight,” the statement said.
