Iranian Foreign Ministry Condemns Biased Decision to Award Nobel Peace Prize to Narges Mohammadi

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani considered that “granting imprisoned Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi the Nobel Peace Prize is a biased and political decision.”

Kanaani pointed out, in a statement, that “we note that the Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to a person who was convicted of repeated violations of the laws and criminal acts,” adding, “We condemn this biased and political step.”

The head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, Berit Reiss-Andersen, announced that “the Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi, imprisoned in Tehran, has won the Nobel Peace Prize.”

Andersen emphasized, “The award rewarded the 51-year-old activist and journalist for her battle against the oppression of women in Iran, and her struggle to encourage human rights and freedom for all.”
