Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said the claim that Iran supplied drones to Russia was a “clumsy pretext” to freeze, if not destroy, talks on the nuclear deal of Vienna. This was reported today, January 6, by the Iranian news agency Irna.
Ulyanov wrote on Twitter:
“Alleged drone shipments are a clumsy excuse to freeze (if not destroy) #ViennaTalks on #JCPOA (Vienna Speaks to Relaunch Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. — ord.)… It seems that the USA and E3 (the European trio – France, Great Britain, Germany. – ord.) there is a temptation to switch to “Plan B”. Big mistake. It’s hard to expect such a plan to be a plausible option.”
The Islamic Republic of Iran has also insisted that if the United States acts realistically, there is still a chance of reaching an agreement in Vienna.
Meanwhile, at the end of December 2022, the official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Nasser Kanaani he said the window of dialogue is still open and that an agreement could be reached if Western countries show sincere political will.
He added that the foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian complained about the interference of European countries in Iran’s internal affairs during the recent unrest in the country in a meeting with the head of EU diplomacy Joseph Borrell in the Jordanian capital Amman.
Kanaani noted that the Iranian foreign minister also warned that continued supply of weapons to Ukraine by Western countries would not help resolve the conflict between Kiev and Moscow.
