Iranian drones for the Russian Federation – what is known about them

Russia is interested in acquiring Iranian attack UAVs for use in the war against Ukraine. We are talking about drones Shahed-129 and Shahed-191, capable of performing both reconnaissance and strike missions.

Shahed-191

This is a slightly smaller copy of the American RQ-170 Sentinel UAV and also built according to the “flying wing” scheme. According to Iranian media, a turbojet engine is installed as a power plant, which accelerates the drone to 350 km / h and provides autonomy for about 4.5 hours of flight at a distance of up to 450 kilometers and an altitude of up to 7.5 kilometers.

The drone can be armed with two Sadid-342 fragmentation warheads, which are located in the internal compartments.

Shahed-129

The drone resembles the American MQ-1 Predator drone and the Israeli Hermes 450. According to the Iranian military, the drone, with a payload of up to 400 kg, carries 4 to 8 Sadid-1 bombs or missiles and is able to stay in the air for a day.

At the same time, its flight range reaches 1700 km at a cruising speed of about 150 km / h at an altitude of up to 7.5 km. Thanks to a powerful optical module, the UAV can control the territory within a radius of 200 kilometers.
