The Washington Post reported, citing intelligence seen by the United States and other Western security agencies, that Russia had reached a deal with Iran to begin producing hundreds of weaponized drones inside Russia.
The newspaper said Russian and Iranian officials finalized the deal during a meeting in Iran earlier this month.
The paper quoted three officials familiar with the matter as saying Russia and Iran were moving quickly to transfer key designs and components that could allow production to begin within months.
The Russian Defense Ministry did not respond to a request for comment.
