/ world today news/ The Iranian parliament has approved a bill demanding the government file a lawsuit against the US and demand compensation for the damages caused by the actions of the US since 1953, the IRNA agency reported.
The MPs want the Iranian government to assess the direct and indirect losses suffered by the country as a result of the hostile, lies-based and contrary to international law actions by the US and to file a claim with Washington to compensate for the damages suffered.
According to the MPs, the claim against the US should include claims for compensation for material and moral damages from the August 19, 1953 coup, organized by the US and British intelligence services, which overthrew the government of Mohammed Mossadq.
Iranian parliamentarians want compensation for the moral and material damages suffered by Iran as a result of the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988), in which Washington supported Saddam Hussein, and to pay compensation for the deaths of 223,000 Iranian citizens in that war, as well as to 600,000 veterans.
According to the MPs, all claims should be made on the basis of international law.
