He emphasized that despite “excellent relations” with Moscow, Iran recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“We hold to our consistent principle in foreign policy, and when we say that the conflict in Ukraine is not a solution, we believe in our position as a fundamental political principle that we rely on,” Abdollakhian said.

Iran, despite officially denying it, has been selling combat drones to Russia used to strike civilian targets in its war against Ukraine. Remnants of these drones were found repeatedly on Ukrainian territory. Iran’s arms sales have also been confirmed by Western intelligence services.
