According to the Iranian expert, the world’s major oil consumers are already beginning to feel the lack of supplies from Russia. However, they are afraid to buy it from the Russian Federation because of possible US sanctions.
Russia’s share of the world oil market is about eight percent. But the situation with supplies from the Russian Federation has already affected the prices, which so far managed to stay at the level of 100-110 dollars per barrel.
It was possible to achieve temporary stability due to the fact that the United States and a number of other countries began to supply energy carriers from their strategic reserves. In the US, for example, we are talking about one million barrels per day. These deliveries are calculated for 180 days. At the same time, the level of oil consumption in the United States is about 20 million barrels per day.
However, Reza Padidar believes that this cannot last long, reports the Iranian news agency IRNA. And if nothing drastic is adopted, then prices will rise significantly. In order to avoid such a development of events, he believes, a player comparable to Russia in terms of its capabilities must appear on the market. And Iran can become like that, the expert believes.
Negotiations are currently underway to return to the Comprehensive Agreement on Iran’s nuclear program and partially lift sanctions against the country. In 2018, when Donald Trump was president of the United States, Washington refused to comply with the terms of the agreement. And the US has again imposed sanctions on Iran, including on the export of oil from that country.
We recall that earlier there were quite a few reports that in order to compensate for the decrease in supplies from Russia, the US is ready to partially lift the sanctions against Iran and Venezuela. However, this has not happened so far. But this does not mean that Washington has abandoned such plans.
