Iran to supply drones to Russia according to Washington | NOW

Iran plans to supply hundreds of drones to Russia, Washington says. These are drones that can operate weapons, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Monday evening.

“Our intelligence also suggests that Iran will train Russian troops to use these drones,” Sullivan said. The planned delivery confirms the American suspicion that Russia is struggling to maintain its arms supply, because it suffers large losses in Ukraine.

Drones play an important role in the war in Ukraine. Both sides deploy the unmanned aircraft, for example to fire missiles from a distance or to drop small bombs on targets. Ukraine gets drones from Turkey and the US, among others.

“We will continue to play our part in effectively defending Ukraine and helping to show that Russia’s attempt to wipe Ukraine off the map will not succeed,” Sullivan said.

The United States unveiling comes on the eve of President Joe Biden’s trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia. Iran’s nuclear program and hostile activities in the region are high on the agenda during the talks, news agency reported AP

The US revelation about the main regional rival of both Israel and Saudi Arabia follows the refusal of these countries to participate in sanctions against Russia, in order to protect their national interests.
