Iran to share black box downed Boeing with Ukraine anyway NOW

Iran will share the black box of the Ukrainian passenger plane that was shot down in January with Kiev, says the Iranian representative at the United Nations.

On January 8, the Ukrainian Boeing 737-800 crashed just outside the Iranian capital Tehran. Three days later, Iran admitted to accidentally shooting the plane. All 176 occupants were killed in the crash.

Iran expected reprisals from the United States that night for attacking U.S. military personnel in neighboring Iraq.

In January, Tehran said that the black box would go to Ukraine. Days later, Iran reported that it would only do this if the reading was unsuccessful.

Soon disagreement about analysis data flight recorder

It soon emerged after the crash disagreement about who was allowed to analyze the data from the so-called flight recorder. This is usually the responsibility of the country where the crash occurred, but the maker or owner of the device is often involved in the investigation.

Now the box is going to Ukraine anyway, says the Iranian representative at the UN Farhad Parvaresh. Other interested countries are also allowed to analyze the black box, according to Parvaresh.

It is unclear whether Boeing is allowed to analyze data

It is still unclear whether the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing will also have access to the flight recorder. At least Iran previously said the recorder not to share with the US.

Ukraine International Airlines’ Boeing 737-800 had many Iranians, Canadians with an Iranian background and Afghans in addition to the Ukrainian crew members.
