Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has ordered the Islamic nation to directly attack Israel in response to the assassination of Hamas terrorist group leader Ismail Haniyeh. According to a New York Times report.

“After this bitter and tragic event that took place within the borders of the Islamic Republic, it is our duty to take revenge.”Khamenei, 85, had posted earlier on his account on the social network X, formerly Twitter. The directive was issued at an emergency meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Iran had already directly attacked Israel in April. 99% of its 300 drones and missiles were fired from the sky by a coalition of five armies belonging to the United States, Israel, Jordan and the United Kingdom.
For his part, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin warned that if the Jewish State suffers attacks, “they will come to Israel’s defense.”

Along the same lines, US national security communications advisor John Kirby said that they must “be prepared to preserve our national security interests in the region.”

Moreover, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had anticipated that challenging days could come and that Israel was prepared for any scenario as he spoke of Israel’s existential battle against Tehran.
