The Iranian Foreign Ministry warned Germany of its interference in the situation with protests in the Islamic Republic. Minister Hossein Amirabdollahyan said Tehran’s response will be “firm and proportionate”.
This response from the Iranian government was received by German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock, who expressed support for the protests in Iran and said that the European Union will seek new sanctions against Tehran next week.
“A provocative, interventionist and non-diplomatic stance is not a sign of grace and wisdom. Weakening old ties has long-term consequences. Germany can choose to interact to solve common problems or confrontations,” Amirabdollahyan warned.
Due to statements by the German Foreign Minister, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned German Ambassador Hans-Udo Musel to protest against Berlin’s position.
