Iran tells foreign visitors to abide by the laws as protests continue

(Reuters) – A spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Monday that foreign visitors to Iran should abide by the laws of the Islamic Republic, amid ongoing protests after the death of a woman in moral police custody, which Tehran attributed to “foreign enemies”.

Iran said last month that it had arrested nine European citizens for their role in the riots over Mahsa Amini’s death.

“Iran is a safe country,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said at a televised press conference. “We expect foreigners who visit Iran for tourism and business to respect our laws.”
