Iran, Syria, Iraq and Yemen declare official mourning for Nasrallah’s death

Madrid. The authorities of Iran, Syria, Iraq and Yemen announced the declaration of several days of mourning – five in the case of Iran, three in the other three countries – for the death of the general secretary of the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah in a Israeli bombing in Beirut.

In Iran, the leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, declared five days of mourning after the “barbaric assassination” of Nasrallah. “This heinous crime is proof of the terrorist nature of the Zionist regime,” said the Iranian leader, Iranian media reported.

For his part, Iranian President Masud Pezeshkian accused the United States of being “complicit” in the “crimes of the Israeli regime” in Lebanon and condemned the Israeli “terrorist attack” against Hassan Nasrallah, which “only further reinforces the upright tree of resistance”.

“Nasrallah’s name will forever shine on the front lines of Islam,” according to Pezeshkian, who warned that “the international community will not forget that the order for the Beirut attack came from New York.”

In Iraq, Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al Sudani declared three days of mourning throughout the country, the Iraqi News news agency reports. Al Sudani also condemned Nasrallah’s death as a “shameful attack”, “a crime that shows that the Zionist entity crossed all red lines” and stressed that the Hezbollah leader is “a martyr in the path of the righteous.”

Syria, for its part, also condemned the “cowardly and brutal Israeli aggression” against Nasrallah, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “This despicable action demonstrates once again how treacherous, cowardly and terrorist, the absence of moral values and brutality and contempt for international laws” of Israel, he indicated.

“All those who fight to liberate the land and defend sovereignty and independence have lost a model to follow in the fight against aggression and resistance to occupation,” he added.

Finally, the president of the Supreme Political Council established by the Houthis in Yemen, Mahdi al Mashat, announced three days of mourning for “the martyrdom” of Nasrallah.
