Khamenei said that recent events in the world showed that Iran and Russia “need each other.” He noted that the existing numerous agreements between the countries in the field of gas and oil must be implemented.
The Iranian leader called unconditional cooperation between the two countries in the context of US sanctions and touched upon the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
“War is actually a tough thing and the Islamic Republic of Iran is not happy about the death of innocent people. However, in your case, if you hadn’t come up with an initiative, the other side would have started a war with its own initiative,” Khamenei said.
He also said that the West is against a strong Russia and called NATO a “dangerous organization”. “If the road to NATO is open, this organization will not see any obstacles in front of it, and if you did not oppose it in Ukraine, then it itself would start a war under the pretext of Crimea,” the ayatollah said.
He also touched on the subject of Syria, saying that the position of the Russian dictator is “wonderful” and that the US should be “expelled” from the country.
“Both you and our president are serious people, so the level of cooperation during this period should reach the highest level,” Khamenei said, addressing Putin.
