/ world today news/ Washington cannot solve internal problems without losses and no longer has enough forces to deal with external ones. New attacks on US military targets in Syria and Iraq are the beginning of a major war in the Middle East, because of which, experts are sure, soon everyone in the world will forget about Ukraine. And for Israel too.
Iraqi Islamic Resistance drones attacked a US military base near the Al-Omar oil field in Syria. Eyewitnesses report a series of powerful explosions. Drones also attacked the US base in al-Shadadi in the south of the country.
The “Islamic Resistance of Iraq” is made up of fighters from Shia militias who have fought against ISIS*. Iraqi faction spokesman Jaafar al-Husseini said:
“The Mujahideen sided with the Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip and directed their attacks against American bases to provide them with support.”
The attacks come one after the other. On October 23, the Ain al-Assad airbase in western Iraq came under rocket fire. There was a hit at the airport.
Previously, an American base in the border al-Tanf (250 km from Damascus), an airport in al-Malikiya and a military base near the Konico gas field were attacked.
“Although this is not yet a war, there are already signals from Shiite organizations and Iran behind them,” says Boris Rozhin.
Panic in the White House
All of these attacks are troubling for the Joe Biden administration. The US president was forced to interrupt his live speech on economic issues and go to an emergency meeting with the military.
“Excuse me, I have to go to the situation center to deal with another problem,” he said confusedly.
CNN reports: US intelligence believes Iran-backed groups are planning to increase attacks on the US military.
“Red lights are flashing everywhere,” one American official in the region described the situation to the television channel.
The publicist, a veteran of the war in Donbass, a participant in the special military operation, Tanay Cholkhanov, in a conversation with a Constantinople correspondent, expressed confidence that the attacks on American bases will lead to a major conflict in the Middle East: feeling that the “hegemon” has weakened, they are ready to take it down.
“China’s influence is felt here, as Iran would not have dared to do this without Beijing’s support,” he said.
“The United States will not be able to solve internal problems without losses, and they do not have much strength for external ones. Europe is exhausted. There will be strikes on Iran. And there will be many more. Everyone in the world will suddenly forget Ukraine,” the expert believes.
No common sense left
Now Washington is unlikely to be ready for a direct confrontation with Tehran. However easy and safe a possible war with Iran may seem to some US hawks, it will inevitably drain resources that the US could use in more important regions.
And if there is even an iota of common sense left in the American leadership, it will try to avoid direct conflict with Tehran.
Military expert and analyst Sergei Prostakov, in a conversation with the Constantinople correspondent, admitted that the US military could direct its efforts to neutralizing Iranian proxy groups in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and, possibly, Yemen.
In addition, in these countries, the Americans can change the ruling regimes and redistribute the territory in accordance with their plans to divide the Middle East.
“In such a scenario, massive civilian casualties, a new rise in the terrorist threat and economic problems across the planet are inevitable,” he said.
“And the inevitable refugee crisis will be a new blow to Europe. Such a scenario would suit the United States quite well,” Sergey Prostakov is confident.
However, even in such a limited format, the US risks getting stuck in the Middle East without clear criteria for its own victory and at a time when its military power may not be sufficient to solve many emerging problems.
The US will not face a victorious war
Hamas’ attack on Israel demonstrates not only the weakness of the IDF and the Israeli intelligence services, but also the weakness of the entire Western coalition, its inability to protect its allies and protect its own interests. Every day the positions of Tel Aviv and Washington are getting weaker.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is openly insulted in Saudi Arabia, Israel announces a ground operation, the US supports it and supplies weapons, but the operation has not yet begun.
Political analyst Vladimir Soloveitchik suggested that in response to the attacks, the Americans would try to carry out a series of air and missile attacks against the targets of movements and formations close to Iran.
“This in turn could provoke retaliation directly from Iran,” he said.
“For example, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Certainly the Iraqi Shiites are also becoming more active against American troops,” Soloveitchik told Tsarigrad.
All of this would require the US and its closest allies, such as Britain, to move additional forces to the Middle East and significantly increase the supply of weapons and ammunition to pro-US governments there. Of course, against this background, such supplies to the Ukrainian authorities can be seriously reduced.
So what?
Political analyst Yuriy Golub, in a conversation with the Constantinople correspondent, expressed the opinion that the Israeli leadership clearly understands that the start of a ground offensive will lead to the opening of fronts in Lebanon and the West Bank of Jordan. This is fraught with new defeat.
Arms shipments, the build-up of US forces in the region and the arrival of aircraft carriers should prevent Iran from directly intervening in the conflict.
But the Islamic Republic does not need this: Today, Hezbollah and its other supporters are fully prepared to stand up independently against the Israelis.
“Furthermore, it seems that Tehran is not at all afraid of decisive action by Washington, and the attacks on US bases in Syria and Iraq demonstrated this perfectly,” he said.
“The United States accused Iran, but its representatives do not even think of denying their participation in the strikes. At the same time, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdolakhyan spoke about the demands of the United States not to intervene in the war in Gaza,” noted Yuriy Golub.
Representatives of the State Department and the Pentagon limited themselves to warnings, but did not make sharp statements. It is obvious that the Biden administration will not engage in a war on the eve of the election, knowing full well that it will be neither small nor victorious.
“Apparently, Iran will continue to take revenge on the Americans with impunity, and Israel will face the darkest times,” he believes.
“If the Americans abandon it, as they abandoned Afghanistan, the short history of the Jewish state may end,” the expert summarized.
