Iran defended his position against a war against Israelsomething that he does not see as “necessary”, and called on Israel and its allies to contain themselves to avoid an escalation of aggression, which if it occurs will provoke a response from Tehran.

«We are against war. “We do not see it necessary, and we call on those who support the (Israeli) regime to stop this type of aggression against other nations and countries in the region.”the Iranian ambassador to Spain said at a press conference in Madrid, Reza Zabib.

The diplomat explained that his country applied “self-containment” measures for several months to not respond to what they consider to be Israel’s aggression against their country’s interests, including the murder of Ismail Haniyehthe political leader of Hamas last July in the Iranian capital, and that now it is the turn of Israel and its allies “for the sake of peace and stability.”

Zabib blamed Israel for “not keeping the promise when it said to hold back and come to a ceasefire in Gaza,” something that has not happened. In fact, he criticized the inability to stop “a year of genocide in Palestine”, and that the attacks “have spread to Lebanon”, with the “same pattern of behavior of targeting innocent civilians.”

Iranian attack

“We had no choice but to react”he said, to justify the Iranian attack this Tuesday with some 200 missiles against Israel.

According to the diplomat, and “unlike the Zionist regime that constantly considers legitimate targets for aggression and massacre of innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure,” the so-called operation ‘True Promise 2’ launched by Iran was based “on ethical principles” and “the international humanitarian legality”, focused on the attack of “targets of military and security facilities of the (Israeli) regime involved in terrorist operations in the region.”

The Iranian representative stressed that his country is “fully prepared to take defensive measures in the future if necessary to protect its legitimate interests and defend its integrity and territorial sovereignty against any aggressive military act and use of illegal force.”

“If the Israeli regime repeats such an intentionally erroneous act again, Iran’s response will be strict, decisive and stronger than ever.”he said, and recalled that his country has as its red lines “any aggression against Iranian territorial integrity, Iranian soil and key interests of Iran.”

Stronger reaction

“If an Iranian civilian or civilian infrastructure is targeted (of attacks), our reaction will be much stronger”he assured.

Zabib said his country is “satisfied and happy” with the outcome of yesterday’s attack, in which according to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, 90% of the projectiles hit their intended targets.

Asked if, given the threats of Israeli incursions and attacks in Lebanon, that country could experience a situation similar to that currently experienced in Gaza, the Iranian diplomat expressed that, without a change in Israel’s actions, “unfortunately everything seems to indicate “That will be like that, it could happen.”

“That is why it is a moral responsibility for everyone to stop this inhuman and aggressive behavior”he resolved. EFE (I)
