Al-Marsad Newspaper: The Iran Press website claimed that Qatari media outlets said that Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman will form a joint naval force to ensure the security of the Gulf.
The site indicated that the consultations between Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman began in coordination with China, with the aim of ensuring the safety of navigation in the Gulf.
The Wall Street Journal quoted US officials as saying that the Emiratis “are frustrated by the lack of a US response to Iran’s seizure of oil tankers on April 27 and May 3.”
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to this, stressing its rejection of the mischaracterizations of its talks with the United States of America regarding maritime security.
The ministry said in a statement, “The UAE is committed to peaceful dialogue and diplomatic means as means to promote common goals of regional security and stability, and as a result of our continuous evaluation of effective security cooperation with all partners, the UAE withdrew two months ago from its participation in the Unified Maritime Force.”
