On the night of Saturday 26 October, Israel attacked several targets in Iran, including several military targets. Israel launched three waves of attacks with about 200 rockets in each round.
Four Iranian soldiers lost their lives in the attack and it is reported that one civilian also died in the attack.
Recent satellite images show Khojir base and Parchin base, both centers are located southeast of Tehran. They are classified, and experts have revealed that one facility has previously been linked to Iran’s nuclear program.
The Khojir base is said to have had an extensive underground tunnel system, which housed production facilities for rockets. Reuters reported this summer that the base was increasing significantly.
Below you can see satellite images taken of the Kohjir base before (October 22) and after (October 28) the Israeli attack:
Iran’s arms deliveries to Russia
In the past, it has been widely known that Iran has attacked Russia with drones. Drones of the Shahed type, often called kamikazed drones. With this, Russia has attacked several targets in Ukraine, both civilian and military.
These drones are cheap to make and can do a lot of damage with little financial risk. Initially, Russia imported these drones from Iran, but in 2022 the countries reached an agreement that allowed Russia to start making its own based on Iranian plans and critical parts.

This year, the countries were linked even more closely together, because of the export of something completely new. Not enough with the drones, this autumn Russia received the first shipment of missiles from Iran.
What Russia got was a batch of short-range missiles of the Fathe-360 type. The short-range missiles from Iran can carry a warhead of 150 kilograms and have a range of 120 kilometers.

On Thursday this week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced that they are in the process of making a new agreement with Iran that will further strengthen the countries’ cooperation, also in the defense sector.

Much to Putin’s chagrin
But now it will take time before a new delivery arrives, says Israeli Middle East expert Anshel Pfeiffer. He says Iran will not be able to supply ballistic missiles to Russia for several months until it restores its production line.
The American news website Axios They could also report that the Israeli strike destroyed a critical part of Iran’s ballistic missile production line. In addition, several of Iran’s air defense batteries – which are supposed to protect Tehran and the country’s nuclear facilities – were hit.
Axios cites several unnamed Israeli sources, as well as an American source known as a government official.

It may be years before production is up again
The sources say that 12 highly advanced rocket fuel mixers were destroyed. These are difficult to obtain and, for Iran, can only be ordered from China. It is also estimated that it will take at least a year for Iran to get the advanced devices back in place.
Axios also writes that there is a large number of missiles in Iran, but as a result of the attack this will now be emptied more quickly – which could affect deliveries to Hezbollah and the Houthi militia.
Iran itself has only said that the damage is limited.
The attack may also affect Vladimir Putin’s aggressive war in Ukraine. In September, Russia received ballistic missiles from Iran for the first time.

He could play a role in a major breakthrough
Sigbjørn Halsne is department director at the War College at the Norwegian Defense Academy (FHS). He believes that the lack of new missiles from Iran will have little effect on the war in Ukraine.
– It seems that Russia will receive a small number of missiles from Iran, and they have a very short range, says Halsne to Nettavisen.
The Times writes that they have seen documents showing that a shipment of 100 missiles was distributed in 25 ships sent from Iran on August 30. The newspaper also says that the shipment was signed by a Russian, who was suspected of using a fake name. They have been told by an intelligence source that it will be a long time before Iran can export weapons again.
FHS’s Halsne says the ballistic missiles could have played a part for the Russians, if they were able to make significant progress through the Ukrainian lines.
– Ballistic missiles can then be used to hit command posts, troop concentrations and logistics in the enemy’s rear areas before advancing with other forces, but as the war has evolved and the situation now, this is rather unlikely, he says.
