“The agreement has expired, any recorded information will never be provided to the IAEA and the data and images will remain the property of Iran,” said the speaker of Iran’s parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, as reported by Reuters on Sunday (27/6/2021).

The IAEA and Tehran reached a three-month monitoring agreement in February, after Iran announced it would reduce its commitments to the Iran nuclear deal, including reducing its cooperation with the IAEA.

This reduction in commitment is part of Iran’s response to the withdrawal of the United States (US) from the nuclear deal. Where, the US, under the administration of Donald Trump, also reinstated all sanctions against Iran. Also read: Iran’s Only Nuclear Power Plant Closes Suddenly, What’s Up?

The agreement allows the IAEA for monitoring some activities that should have been stopped to resume. The agreement originally expired in May, but both parties agreed to extend it for a month and ended on June 24.
