Tehran prosecutor Ali Alkasimer said on Monday that Trump and 30 other people accused by the Islamic Republic of involvement in General Kasem Soleimani’s death threatened charges of murder and terrorism, the Iranian news agency ISNA was quoted as saying.

Apart from Trump, the prosecutor did not identify any other accused, but added that Iran would try to prosecute Trump after the end of his presidency.

Alcasimers said that Iran had asked Interpol to issue a high-level or “red” statement. If a “red alert” is issued, the local authorities will make the arrests on behalf of the requesting state.

Interpol is unlikely to comply with Iran’s request, as its guidelines on statements prohibit the organization from “engaging in any political interference or actions”.

Soleimani, considered Iran’s most influential foreign policy-maker and responsible for foreign operations, was killed by order of US President Donald Trump on January 3 during a drone strike in Iraq.
