Iran has no plans to negotiate directly or indirectly with the United States at a meeting in Vienna on April 6, which will discuss a return to compliance with the terms of the nuclear deal, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi said, IRNA reported on April 4.

“We will negotiate with the countries of the 4 + 1 group (Russia, China, Britain, France and the Federal Republic of Germany – ed.)) And tell them about our requirements and conditions for the United States to return to the nuclear deal. Our demand is that the United States fulfills all its obligations under the JCPOA. and lifting the sanctions. After that we will check their actions and return [к выполнению своих обязательств]”, – said Arakchi.

Nuclear deal. US and Iran issue ultimatums

On Friday, Washington confirmed its participation in the Vienna meeting. In particular, it is planned to discuss what steps Iran should take to return to the nuclear deal.

“It is still early and we do not expect an immediate breakthrough, as difficult negotiations await us. But we believe that this is a healthy step forward,” said State Department spokesman Ned Price.

The United States does not yet count on direct negotiations with Iran, but “remains open to such an opportunity,” Price said.

European countries participating in the 4 + 1 format have also expressed their readiness to facilitate the return of the United States to the agreement.

Earlier, Iran and China signed a comprehensive agreement “on political, strategic and economic cooperation.” The PRC has pledged to invest in Iran over the next 25 years in exchange for stable oil supplies. In terms of scale, the amount is comparable to the GDP of the Islamic Republic.

Having received political and financial support from the Middle Kingdom, Tehran can be more confident feel in touch with Washington to lift the sanctions imposed under Donald Trump over Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.
