Iran begins large-scale military exercises near the Persian Gulf

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched large-scale military exercises in the southern regions of Iran. The exercises, which involve ground forces, aircraft and navy, will last five days.

The exercises will take place in the southern regions of Iran, as well as in the Strait of Hormuz, through which up to 20% of the oil produced in the world passes from the Persian Gulf.

The maneuvers began just a few days after Iran’s unsuccessful negotiations with Western countries. In these negotiations, held in Vienna, Tehran failed to convince the West of its intention to abandon the production of nuclear weapons.

On Monday, local residents heard loud explosions in the area of the Iranian nuclear test site Bushehr, 700 km from Tehran. Earlier, the authorities announced the holding of military exercises in the area.
