The foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia signed a joint statement in Beijing. This was announced today, April 6, by an Iranian expert, RIAC expert Nikita Smagin.
Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Faisal Ben Farhan Al Saud and its Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir Abdollahian signed a joint statement between the two countries during the first official meeting of foreign ministers in more than seven years, which took place in Beijing.
According to the party’s statement:
“They confirm the agreements to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries and begin preparations for the opening of diplomatic missions.”
“We intend to resume official visits and trips of private delegations.”
“We agreed to resume flights between countries and simplify the procedure for issuing visas.”
“We exchanged invitations to visit Tehran and Riyadh for bilateral talks.”
“Reaffirmed the activation of the security cooperation agreement signed between the two countries in 2001.”
