/ world today news/ On November 15 in Tehran, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, Mahdi Safari, held talks with the visiting Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and BRICS coordinator Sergey Ryabkov. This is also the first round of bilateral negotiations after Iran’s accession to the BRICS cooperation mechanism.
Russia will take over the rotating BRICS presidency from January 2024. Ryabkov presented the country’s priorities for this period. Safari, in turn, said that the areas of cooperation between the BRICS countries are extensive and diverse. Iran will actively participate and play a fully constructive role in the development of the partnership.
The two countries also discussed their cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, energy, transport, science and technology, as well as the development of BRICS as a whole.
