TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Bahar bin Smith has been named a suspect in the case of spreading false news or hoaxes by the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Java Police.

In the case reported by a resident with the initials TNA, Bahar is suspected of spreading false news and hate speech through a video lecture in Bandung Regency, West Java.

Now the leader of the Tajul Alawiyyin Islamic Boarding School was immediately detained in the detention center West Java Regional Police in the next 20 days.

He asked for West Java Regional Police not selective in handling hate speech cases.

Don’t be impressed that the police are only strict with those who are considered to be the opposition, but the handling of people who are called government supporters is even above the law.

“The West Java Police must show a professional and fair attitude in processing criminal cases handled by Polda investigators,” said Sugeng in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/1/2022).

Sugeng also highlighted the speed with which the investigation into the report against Bahar was compared to the police report addressed to those who support the government.

He compared it to reports of hate speech to social media activists Denny Siregar who allegedly insulted students at a Tasikmalaya Islamic Boarding School as terrorists.
