IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals’ Dominant Bowling Performance Restricts Punjab Kings to Low Total

Rajasthan Royals bowlers bowled Punjab Kings in IPL. After losing the toss and batting, Punjab were limited to 147 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In the absence of captain Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab was led by Sam Curran today. Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl.

The bowling of Keshav Maharaj (2 wickets conceding only 23 runs in four overs) and Athush Khan (2 wickets conceding 34 runs in four overs) helped to keep Punjab down by a small score. Trent Boult, Kuldeep Sen and Yuzvendra Chehal took one wicket each for Rajasthan.

Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 16 balls), Jitesh Sharma (29 off 24 balls) and Liam Livingston (21 off 14 balls) who came out as an impact player and smashed in the last overs, brought Punjab to a better score.

Atharva Teide (15 off 12 balls) and Jonny Bairstow (15 off 19 balls) put on a 27-run partnership for the first wicket before Atharva was dismissed in the fourth over by Josh Khan. Punjab were 38 for 1 at the end of the powerplay. It was one of the lowest Powerplay scores of the season.

Prabhsimran Singh (10 off 14 balls), captain Sam Curran (6 off 10 balls) and Shashank Singh (9 off 9 balls) also failed to shine. Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingston combined for the sixth wicket to take Punjab past 100. Both added 33 runs.

Ashutosh Sharma’s batting in the last overs brought Punjab’s score close to 150. Ashutosh got out in the last ball. Harpreet Brar (3* off 3 balls) remained unbeaten.
