IPJ Constanța denounces a fake news by the Europol Trade Union regarding the lack of policemen at night in Constanța

IPJ Constanța reacted after the Europol Union stated that, in the city by the sea, there is no longer a traffic police team that operates at night.

“Following the information that appeared in the public space, regarding the fact that on the night of November 20 to 21, respectively, November 21 to 22, no road crew was on duty from the Road Bureau of the Police of the Municipality of Constanța, the Department of Public Relations of the Constanța County Police Inspectorate is authorized to communicate the following:

During that period, the traffic police service was provided, on the 3rd shift, respectively in the time interval 22.00 – 06.00, according to the plan, with traffic police personnel from the Traffic Bureau of the Police of the Municipality of Constanța.

Moreover, in the municipality of Constanța, there were several public order patrols, made up of policemen who also have the status of traffic police and who found contraventions and crimes in the traffic regime, being also able to intervene in road events within their jurisdiction .

In addition, the Road Service within the Constanța County Police Inspectorate has an appropriate and sufficient number of crews to ensure support for any territorial structure, including the Constanța municipality, where it is headquartered.

In conclusion, we state that the issues that appeared in the public space are not substantiated, the forces of the Constanța County Police Inspectorate being able to fulfill their tasks and objectives regarding the safety of citizens”, announces IPJ Constanța.

What did the trade unionists say?

In a Facebook post, the trade unionists wrote: “Constanța Municipality Police management is conducting experiments on the backs of the people of Constanta. After they refused to change the form of organization of the work schedule in 12-hour shifts, a measure that ensured at least 2 patrols in constant service, we see that with the form of organization in 8-hour shifts we have reached the performance of not having any road crew between 22.00 and 06.00 on the streets of Constanța for the last 2 nights. Their explanation was that 2 patrols are too few at 12 o’clock, but it’s better with NO patrol at 8 o’clock. That means thinking like a “manager” in IPJ Constanța. On another note, we are waiting for you on Monday, November 27, starting at 09.30, at the protest organized in in front of IPJ Constanța and the Prefecture of Constanța. We are protesting because we no longer accept managerial incompetence and because we want to increase safety in the community”.
