iPhone XR will be replaced by iPhone 12s next year?

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Apple is rumored to stop selling the iPhone XR by the end of the first quarter of 2021, and replace it with the iPhone 12s in the second quarter of 2021.

Apple did release the S variant in the past, as a modest annual upgrade. If the news is true, the iPhone 12s will be released a few months after the iPhone 12 goes on sale.

Quoted from Phone Arena, Sunday, the iPhone 12s may still use 4G. According to previous estimates, this variant will be announced in February 2021. This estimate is in line with the estimated release time frame in Q2.

The iPhone 12s is expected to sell for 800 US dollars, or around Rp.11.8 million. In Indonesia, the iPhone XR is currently selling for Rp.10.9 million, according to the official iPhone distributor website, iBox.

Rosenblatt Securities analyst Jun Zhang, who had previously predicted the iPhone 12 LTE, would say the device would not have much in common with the 5G model. He expects Apple to launch two special 4G models.

The 5G-ready iPhone 12 variant will likely be equipped with the A14 Bionic chipset and the latest OLED display. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will likely come with a dual camera configuration, while the Pro model will have a triple camera setup with a LiDAR sensor.

Apart from that, there have recently been reports hinting at the delay of the iPhone 12. Apple supplier Broadcom has signaled the iPhone 12 may not launch like its predecessor which is usually introduced in September, corroborating news of a launch in October.
