IPhone Users Can Now Share Tweets Directly To Instagram Story

Twitter users can now share a Tweet directly to an Instagram Story from their iOS device, instead of relying on a screenshot.

Twitter users now have the ability to share Tweets directly to an Instagram Story from their iPhone. First introduced in 2016, Instagram Stories offer a Snapchat-like ability to share photos or videos that last 15 seconds and then disappear after twenty-four hours. While users could previously share a Tweet on other social media apps, including Facebook or Tumblr on an iPhone, Instagram Stories was not an option. Another limitation related to Instagram stories is also expected to be fixed soon with the upcoming option to save a story as a draft, a feature previously limited to feed posts and reels.

Along with the ability to share Tweets directly, Twitter recently unveiled Super Follows and Ticketed Spaces, two new features that provide users with exclusive content from their favorite creators for a fee. Twitter also rolled out its Twitter Blue subscription level with a Cancel Tweet feature earlier this month. Twitter Blue is currently available for Canadian users for CA $ 3.49 or for Australian users for AUD $ 4.49.

Revealed by the official Twitter account, iOS users can now share a Tweet on an Instagram Story directly from the Twitter app. Prior to the update, users only had the option to take a screenshot of a Tweet when sharing to an Instagram story. Not only was this method less convenient, it also took up storage space on the camera’s film. Before trying to share a Tweet on Instagram Stories, users will want to make sure that they have downloaded the Instagram app on their device and that the iOS Twitter app is updated to the most recent version.

Start and Share a Tweet on Instagram Stories

To start sharing, open the Twitter app and find a Tweet to share. Next, tap the Share icon, the up arrow next to the Like button. From there, just tap on the new Instagram Stories icon which will then launch the Instagram app and a new Instagram story with the Tweet. As expected, Instagram users can further personalize the story, including adding a sticker. Once the Tweet is placed and sized the way you want, hit the Send To button, choose to add to a story, then share it only with close friends or send it to a follower as a DM.

The new feature is certainly an exciting addition to Twitter and Instagram. Currently, users cannot tap the Tweet to return to the original post on Twitter, as they can when sharing an Instagram post. However, this is a minor inconvenience and, given that the feature is still so new, the ability to access Twitter could arrive in the future. In the meantime, enjoying sharing Tweets on Instagram Stories is another way to connect two of the most popular social media apps.
