The new year is the time for the announcement of the significant increase the prices of many goods and services.
Apple is also ready to update its prices and, for those who don’t already have a warranty, replacing the battery in an iPhone, Mac or iPad will be more expensive.
It was over Reddit Apple announced that, effective March 1, 2023, the service charge for battery replacements for out-of-warranty devices will increase by $20.
an announced increase
The price increase will only affect customers who do not have AppleCare or AppleCare+ for their devices. For example, with AppleCare+, when the battery reaches 80% capacity, it's replaced for free.
While the announcement is associated with the North American market, the truth is that the cost increase will cut across other regions and countries at the same time.
This increase will also affect the batteries of out-of-warranty devices, i.e. MacBooks and iPads. According to MacRumors, the price increase for a MacBook Air will be $30 and a MacBook Pro $50. For a new iPad model, the increase will be $20.
Apple cautions, however, that this increase is only associated with services directly at an Apple Store or shipped directly to Apple (which is limited to some markets). Authorized service providers may have their own associated price adjustments.
