Over the years, the iPhone and the iPad – and even smartphones and tablets in general – have become the main gaming platform, some people think that ” real gamers»Play on console or PC. With the arrival d’iOS 14, d’iPadOS 14 and of tvOS 14, things could go even further to make our smartphones and tablets real portable consoles.
Full accessory support forgamers
In addition to the various innovations mentioned by Apple during WWDC opening conference, many elements have also been revealed to the developers so that they can bring added value to the system through their creations. This is particularly the case for games.
Developers can now take full advantage of certain third-party controllers, including la Xbox Elite 2 (with its rear buttons), or the Adaptive Controller – Microsoft’s controller for people with disabilities. In particular, they can now activate their haptic feedback (vibrations), better personalize the button mapping, but also control certain special functions such as motion sensors or light, two elements found on the PS4 DualShock 4, or display its battery level.
This applies to both the iPhone and iPad as well as the Apple TV. We can therefore expect ever more advanced creations on these three platforms, and certainly a great highlight d’Apple Arcade.
The iPad becomes a gaming PC
Even further than the joysticks, the iPad also offers an expensive combo for PC players: the keyboard and the mouse.
From iPadOS 13, Apple tablets support mice, with some restrictions and a more thoughtful use for the system itself. From now on, developers will be able to take advantage of this to offer an even more complete experience with the inclusion of the keyboard and mouse in their games.
FPS / TPS players will be particularly pleased to have new controls at their disposal to make the powder speak. When we see the success of Fortnite and of Call of Duty Mobile on the iPad, there is no doubt that PCs and consoles will have to redouble their efforts to compete.
