Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple included the iPhone 6 Plus in the vintage list. What does that mean for those phones over 7 years old?
The iPhone 6 Plus makes it to that list with some of Apple’s older phones. Starting from the iPhone 4 (8GB), iPhone 4S, iPhone 4S (8GB), iPhone 5, and iPhone 5C.
The list is when the company discontinued distribution for sale more than 5 and less than 7 years ago. Apple also has a list of older products that have stopped shipping for more than 7 years.
“A product is considered vintage when Apple stopped distributing it for sale more than 5 and less than 7 years ago,” Apple wrote in its length of Support, Thursday (17/2/2022).
Apple is also discontinuing all hardware services on its legacy products. An exception is Mac notebooks, as they qualify for an additional battery-only repair period.
According to Apple, service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products. But getting into the vintage list doesn’t mean the official service ends on the iPhone 6 Plus.
“Apple is discontinuing all hardware services for obsolete products, with the only exception being Mac notebooks that qualify for an additional repair period on batteries only. Service providers cannot order parts on obsolete products,” the company explained.
