iPhone 16 video goes up a notch according to latest leak

There are only a few hours left until Apple reveals all its new features at the Keynote tomorrow, September 9, in California, but if there is one that we are looking forward to, it is the new iPhone 16. With the countdown so early, the leaks seem to have gone wild: increased dimensions and a new button, the Goodbye to 128GB as base storage and be careful because rumors point to an improvement in the beastly camera in the camera.

Because according to this last-minute rumor, the iPhone 16 could have a feature typical of the best Android flagships. That is, the arrival of 8K video recording on the iPhone 16.

More video resolutions for the iPhone 16 Pro

According to sources handled by 9to5Mac, The iPhone 16 Pro will record video at 4K/120fpsa notable improvement over the 4K/60fps of previous generations such as the iPhone 15 Pro, for example. This combination, present in high-end models such as the Xperia 1, Samsung Galaxy S4 Ultra or the Vivo X100 Ultra, enables slow motion that is not as slow as 1080p/240 fps, but in exchange with a much higher level of detail.

Although the leak mentions 4K/120 fps for the iPhone 16 Pro, it is not clear if this feature will be available on all rear cameras or limited to the main one. However, it does mention another feature: the ability to connect external storage to the new iPhones in order to record 4K ProRes videos at 120 fps.

But if there is one fact that points high, it is that there is talk that Apple has been testing the 8K video recording on iPhone 16 Proalthough it is not clear whether this feature will arrive yet. Although 8K video has been a reality on mobile phones since 2020, it is not yet mainstream, although it makes sense for the most demanding users looking for the highest level of detail.

It is important to note that 8K requires a 33MP camera or more, which would limit this resolution to its 48MP main camera and the ultra-wide lens, presumably 48MP. However, due to the design of its cameras, it theoretically would not be possible to record 8K video at 5x.

The possible options do not end here. iPhone 16 camera improvements: They will also have support for the JPEG-XL format, it will be possible to pause and resume video recording from the camera, wind noise elimination and there will be new photographic styles.
