Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro series have reduced prices in Indonesia. In fact, the latest flagship from Apple has only been available on the market for a few months after launching at the end of 2023.

Based on CNBC Indonesia’s monitoring on the official iBox distributor website, the price of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus has dropped by IDR 2.5 million. Meanwhile, the price of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max is now IDR 2 million cheaper.

The trend of lowering prices for the iPhone 15 series is also occurring in China. Large retailers such as JDcom, TMall and Pinduoduo have reduced the selling price of the iPhone 15 series.

This follows sales of this model which continue to slow down, quoted from Reuters, Friday (1/3/2024).

Discounts for the iPhone 15 series in China have been held for several periods. Apple allows vendor partners in China to offer discounts because its sales are sluggish due to competition from local players such as Huawei and Xiaomi.

Last month, Apple offered iPhone discounts on its official website of up to 500 yuan or the equivalent of IDR 1.9 million.

This week, third-party retailers are again discounting the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Some models have dropped prices by up to 1,300 yuan or the equivalent of IDR 2.9 million.

Local media reported that retailers were holding the discount to celebrate International Women’s Day which falls on March 8 2024. However, it was not disclosed how long the promotion would last.

Apple, JD, Alibaba and Pinduoduo did not respond to requests for confirmation.

For your information, iPhone prices have usually been reduced when a newer generation has appeared. Currently the iPhone 15, which is the newest series, is on sale. This sparked comments because it had never happened before.

The iPhone 15 is indeed experiencing pressure in China. The decline in iPhone 15 sales occurred shortly after the product was launched.

A Counterpoint Research report last October stated that sales in China fell 4.5% compared to the iPhone 14, all this happened just 17 days after its market launch.

Analysts predict that iPhone sales performance in China will continue to slow throughout 2024.
