The launch of the iPhone 15 can be described in any number of words, except that everything went “as usual”. The colors and the processing of some iPhones were not ideal right out of the box, the iPhone 15 Pro in some cases had displays that were not properly aligned with the side edges, their speakers rattled, and moreover overheated. And, while this ailment was fixed by a software update, the next problem identified is not so easily resolved. Some iPhone 15 Pro Max users have been reporting a burnt-in display for a few days.
This “phenomenon” also occurs with OLED displays that display a static image for a long period of time, even with high display brightness. And this after using the device for a long time, and often for items that are constantly displayed on the phone. E.g. touch controls, the battery icon in the status bar, or perhaps the “marbling” of map backgrounds. In the photos, however, we can see the display of the currently highest-built iPhone, on which the keyboard is burned, including visible letters by the individual keys, as well as the preview window of a YouTube video.
How to detect (incipient) display burn-in on an OLED display of any brand phone? Display this gray wallpaper on it over the entire screen and manually set the display brightness to low values
No, it’s not an ideal situation, but the available information suggests that this is not a widespread problem. We found mention of five cases on the website, which can also be linked to a specific batch of displays. After all, this also suggests that this error has not appeared on any other current iPhone. On the other hand, last generation didn’t have a similar problem at all…
A faulty batch of displays?
You can recognize the starting burning by the “ghosts” on the display. When switching to a new menu, you still notice visual traces of the screen that was displayed on it a while ago. What’s the easiest way to spot burned-out parts of the display? Display a gray wallpaper on it and set the brightness very low. If the display has signs or indications of a possible burn-in, it is precisely in these conditions that you will detect it most reliably.
iPhone displays burned in this way after a few days of use probably indicate a manufacturing defect, which should be compensated by the seller with a warranty repair or exchange for a new one. However, if we look at it from a bird’s eye view, it’s not been a long time since we remember an iPhone generation that was plagued by hardware and software problems to such an extent.

Speakers rattle at higher volumes, even on newly replaced phones
These days, Apple is preparing to release iOS 17.0.3, which will fix excessive heating of iPhones by applications. Specifically, this happens, for example, when playing Asphalt 9: Legends or when using the Uber or Instagram applications. All these titles can literally “fire up” the new A17 Pro chipset. However, apart from the zero resistance of the rear cover glass, the iPhone 15 is plagued by another problem, namely the rattling microphones during calls and when listening to music and podcasts.
If users of the new iPhones set the volume of the headphone speaker to maximum, they will hear an unpleasant rattling sound. However, the same thing happens when listening to music, if the volume is above about 80 percent. Or a low-quality spoken word is enough, and the sibilants will sound very “unpleasant”.
The speakers on some iPhone 15s make annoying crackling noises at higher volumes. It is not yet clear whether this is a software or hardware issue. However, even freshly exchanged phones have the same symptoms…
However, some users of the new iPhones confirm that their speakers rattle even at lower volume levels. One user even had his iPhone Pro Max replaced with a new one twice, but all three phones had the exact same symptoms. Occasional unpleasant crackling sounds or speakers that are obscured and hoarse from it – this is not a good calling card for the highest-end iPhone 15 Pro Max…
The problem is not limited to the iPhone 15 Pro Max
…and not only for him. One of the American content creators confirmed that he has seven iPhone 15s with the same “quality” of speakers in his neighborhood. However, it is not just the top-of-the-line Pro Max, but also other phones in the range, with the basic iPhone 15 reportedly the least significantly affected by this bug.
It is not yet clear whether this is a hardware or software issue. In the first case, Apple should be prepared for a big problem, in the second case, it will just release the necessary software patch. This could limit the maximum volume of the speaker or eliminate some specific frequencies behind the crackling of the speakers. However, it is not yet clear when the possible repair will take place.
The iPhone 15 Pro is suffering from overheating and the world has split into two groups. One blames the Instagram application, the other directly Apple
In the past few days, headlines have appeared on the web that inform that not only the new iPhone 15, but also older iPhones running the operating system iOS 17 are overheating. This problem of the first version of the new generation of the system may be related to a less than ideal heat dissipation from the chipset area, possibly with a new chipset for Pro variants and insufficient limitation of performance due to temperature. Some blame the USB-C connector because the phone gets abnormally hot while charging or even stops charging!
According to other reports, two minutes of Face Time calls are enough and you can’t keep your hand on the back of the phone. According to other reports, the phone is 38°C (measured on the back cover) when locked and idle, so the temperature of the A17 Pro chipset inside will be much higher…

There are a lot of theories about overheating, not only of new, but also of previous iPhones updated to iOS 17, and Apple has not yet confirmed anything officially. On the other hand, of all the reports about the heating, the video of the YouTuber iPhonedo looks the most convincing, which showed that everything can only be behind the (very) failed implementation of the Instagram application, which iOS 17 does not like at all.
In the video below, you can see the iPhone 15 Pro Max with just the Instragram app running on the home screen. There is no work with the phone, only the Instagram application is open in the foreground. The same heating, where the iPhone seems to be “doing nothing”, is also visible in the iPhone 14 Pro Max. And again behind this is the launched Instagram application. As part of the testing, it turned out that at maximum performance, the back of the iPhone 15 Pro reaches a temperature of 42 °C, so the phone is no longer very comfortable to hold in the hand…
Reason for postponing the update?
If you haven’t updated to iOS 17 yet and you use Instagram, for example, as part of your work, it’s probably a good idea to wait a few more weeks before updating to the latest version of the iOS system. According to some users, the heating of iPhones after a major system update is “typical”, so Apple apologizes for this, but according to the reactions, it can be seen between the lines that this time the heating is much more pronounced than with previous versions of the system.
The new iPhones are also heating up thanks to Instagram:
However, more pronounced heating does not apply flat-rate to all iPhone 15 Pro users, or for owners of older iPhones with iOS 17. So everything points to this not being a flaw in the hardware design of the titanium iPhones with regard to insufficient heat dissipation, as some industry analysts have suggested, but rather a shortcoming that should be addressed by an upcoming system update.

With the editor’s iPhone 15 Pro with iOS 17.0.2, we observe slightly faster heating, but during normal work, the phone does not heat up significantly by itself. When we ran the Stress test in 3D Mark on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro, this year’s model warmed up to the touch faster, but the resulting scores of the phones were still very similar. But the heating of iPhones can (and apparently does) vary from piece to piece.

Scratches and color spots appear on the frame. The first batch of iPhone 15 Pro may have manufacturing defects
With new phones, it sometimes happens that some part is not in ideal condition, but according to reports from around the world, it seems that the number of such phones in the iPhone 15 series is a little higher than would be healthy. The flaws only concern the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models, and they are obvious at first glance. Some phones are missing a piece of paint on the titanium frame, or the color does not have the same shade over the entire surface. In some phones, the display is slightly crooked, or it can be scratched, which also applies to the chassis of the phone.
According to the source, earlier fears of unnamed Foxconn employees who expected problems with the first batch of iPhone 15 Pros have been confirmed. In some cases, brand new phones even have scratches on the frame, colored rectangles, stains or a “beaten” frame, as if the phone had fallen to the ground before being packed in the box. Brand new phones may have a scratched display, or “bubbles” under the cover glass, or specks of dust in cameras.
On some iPhone 15 Pro, the output check did not work properly
Sellers agree that the first batches did not register any similar problems with the iPhone 14. Behind everything can be the gradual reduction of dependence on China, as part of which Apple moved part of the production of the first batch to India. And the bad language claims that the output control on “Made in India” iPhones does not work as it should. However, the “pro” just mentioned should only be produced in China. With the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus made in this country, there seems to be no disappointment when you take the phone out of the box.
Yes, we will not jump to conclusions. Mobile manufacturers sometimes have problems, and it may happen that a newly purchased piece is not in 100% condition. However, with the highest models from Apple, which do not cost much, and one expects visual “perfection” from them, this should definitely not happen. Apparently this is going to be a very small scale issue, on the other hand, there are a decent number of photos posted, and none of these phones should have made it past quality control.
