Last night I once again decided to turn on YouTube for the night. By then it was already dark, and I saw an unpleasant surprise from my iPhone 15 Pro.
Of course, everything happened in complete darkness, and the screen brightness was about 10%.
I see some kind of grid that is barely visible. I started looking closely and discovered that it was onscreen keyboard fingerprint. I rebooted (suddenly there was a bug in the operating system) – it didn’t help.
I took a screenshot just in case. I opened it in the Photos app, started moving it back and forth, nothing changed. Then I decided to just look at what was happening to the screen on a regular gray background, and then everything fell into place.
🚨 Download a picture to check display burn-in
I have been using a new iPhone since September 24, 2023. That is, not even two weeks have passed since the purchase! I did not perform any permanent stress tests; I used it in normal mode, like all previous iPhones.
Catching the imprinted keyboard on camera turned out to be quite problematic. I had to play with the lighting to show this to you, so don’t blame me for the quality of the photo.
Of course, for now this is only barely noticeable keyboard ghosting. But over time, the situation will only get worse, and he will become even more visible.
Honestly, this is the first time I’ve seen (and everyone in the editorial office too) the display of a new iPhone burn out in such a short period of time.
Now I have already disabled Always-On-Display so that other elements do not get imprinted on the screen.
I also do not rule out that the screen burn-in factor could have been further influenced by heating iPhone 15 Prowhich Apple has been fixing all this time.
I will resolve the issue with warranty service – I do not rule out that this is a display defect (or maybe it will even be corrected over time, which I still have little faith in). Although Apple has partially left Russia, sellers are now responsible for the warranty. Let’s see what happens. If the situation changes, I will definitely tell you about it.
