After seeing renders of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15, 9to5Mac has share the first exclusive CAD images of the iPhone 15 Plus.
The CAD files from which these renders are derived are provided by Apple to its supply chain partners in preparation for the launch of a new iPhone. These file types are extremely accurate in terms of size and design.
iPhone 15 Plus renders show us the new USB-C port that will finally replace Lightning for charging and data transfer.
The iPhone 15 Plus will also adopt Dynamic Island. This means that the entire iPhone 15 line will remove the classic notch as seen on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. The bezels are thinner on the iPhone 15 Plus than on the iPhone 14 Plus.
The documents posted also confirm the exact dimensions of the iPhone 15 Plus:
- 160.87 mm today
- 77,76 mm de large
- 7.81mm thick
For comparison, here are the dimensions of the iPhone 14 Plus:
- 160.84 mm today
- 78,07 mm de large
- 7.79mm thick
This data shows that the iPhone 15 Plus is slightly taller, narrower and thicker than the iPhone 14 Plus. Additionally, the camera bump on the back of the iPhone 15 Plus is thicker than its predecessor.
The iPhone 15 Plus, like the rest of the iPhone 15 line, adopts a new design that features slightly rounded edges. This results in a less clear transition from the front of the device to the back.
The iPhone 14 Plus sold very little, but the new model expected in September could certainly do better both for the presence of the Dynamic Island and for the USB-C port.
