Apple is rumored to introduce a new pill-shaped camera cutout design with the iPhone 14 Pro due to launch later this year, removing the annoying TrueDepth Camera System with Face ID notch below the display and making it leaving the selfie camera facing forward in a small “punch hole” cutout.
The information comes from a reliable leaker @dylandkt Thursday, which claims to be able to “corroborate information regarding a hole-punch camera for pro iPhone 14 models,” suggesting that Apple will move the Face ID hardware below the device’s screen, adding that “the functionality of these sensors was not negatively affected by this change.
In a follow-up tweet when asked if the iPhone 14 Pro will feature a Samsung-style circle-shaped “punch hole” or a pill-shaped cutout for the front-facing FaceTime camera, the maintainer of the leak says Apple will likely use the latter, giving this year’s new iPhone a look similar to the concept image above from Ben Geskin.
I am able to corroborate the information regarding a punch hole camera for the pro iPhone 14 models. The Face ID hardware will be placed under the screen. To reassure any concerns, the functionality of these sensors has not been negatively affected by this change.

TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed last year that Apple May Introduce ‘Perforated Display Design’ With iPhone 2022, suggesting at the time that the device’s notch would be removed altogether, leaving questions about how Apple will handle Face ID.
Apple is expected to launch four new iPhone 14 models this year, dropping the 5.4-inch iPhone “mini” series and replacing it with a 6.7-inch non-Pro model, leaving the lineup to consist of an iPhone. 6.1-inch 14, 6.7 -iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max.
