Strong dollar
It is not only in Norway that prices have risen. CNBC reports a NOK 800 price increase on the iPhone 14 compared to the iPhone 13 in the UK, a NOK 340 increase in Australia, NOK 1,450 in Japan and a thousand in Germany.
But the strong dollar explains the price increases. As of September 1, 2022, the dollar exchange rate was NOK 10 according to Norges Bank, while on September 1, 2021, it was 8.69.

Additionally, Statistics Norway reported this week that the consumer price index rose by 6.5% from August 2021 to August 2022.
In neighboring countries, iPhone 14 models also cost a few hundred Swedish kronor more. In Sweden, the price is 11,990 SEK for the iPhone 14, or 11,211 NOK at today’s exchange rate, while in Denmark it costs 8,299 NOK, or 11,113 NOK.
In the US country of origin, you have to shell out $ 799 for the iPhone 14. US prices are shown without VAT (varies from state to state), but if we add 25 percent like in Norway, we land at NOK 9,843 per rate. exchange rate today, that is a thousand marks minus the Norwegian price.
