Today was a holiday for all Apple fans, as we saw the premiere of the new iPhones after less than a year. This time, the wait was a bit shorter, as the premiere of last year’s model line did not take place until October 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while this year Apple returned its keynote with the subtitle California Streaming to its original September deadline. Unfortunately, it was still a pre-recorded performance, we can only believe that we will see a “live” event next year.
Apple has introduced a large number of new features, in this article we will look at the most equipped smartphones iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max.
iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max: 120Hz displays with a smaller cutout
As the name suggests, this year’s flagship iPhones are directly related to last year’s models, with which they share much of the design and dimensions. If you put “twelve” and “thirteen” side by side, the newer models will tell you, in addition to the new color variations, the reduction of the viewport for the TrueDepth camera; landscape is 20 percent less.
It still cuts a large part of the display, but every extra pixel counts. The diagonals of the displays remained unchanged – the smaller iPhone 13 Pro retained a 6.1 “display, while the larger iPhone 13 Pro Max has a 6.7” panel. In both cases, these are OLED panels, but this year it brings one major innovation – the refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Thanks to ProMotion technology, the new iPhones can continuously change the refresh rate as needed between 10 and 120 Hz. For static scenes, you can save energy, while in supported games you can enjoy maximum smooth movement. IPhone 13 and 13 Pro Max displays can excite a maximum brightness of up to 1000 nits, which is the most in the history of iPhones.
Revolutionary camera
iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max brings a completely redesigned camera system. It still consists of three cameras for taking standard, wide-angle and zoomed images, but none of them had a stone on the stone.
The main sensor has been enlarged, allowing it to capture up to 2.2x more light; the aperture of the lens is an impressive f / 1.5. The lens still consists of seven members, the photochip is directly stabilized. The wide-angle camera captures up to 92 percent more light and can also function as a macro camera, focusing from 2 cm. The telephoto lens, which is capable of up to 3x optical zoom and can now use the Night Mode function, which is thus available for all three cameras, has also been replaced.
Much of the presentation was devoted to the filmmaking regime; The new iPhones can now record videos with a shallow depth of field and refocus between the subjects. As soon as a new person enters the scene, the camera automatically focuses on it. Impressively, the focus can be adjusted and even a bokeh effect can be added to the videos. Film mode can be used on all three cameras.
iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max are also the first smartphones that can record video in ProRes (4K / 30 fps) or Dolby Vision formats. Captured recordings can then be sent from the iPhone directly to the Mac and processed in the Final Cut application.
Another novelty is photographic styles that can be applied to captured photos. Unlike conventional filters, they preserve the natural appearance of the photo, you only choose whether you want the image to have a warm or cold touch, or to look more vivid or contrasting. You can adjust the color tones and temperature exactly to your liking.
The most powerful iPhone “ever”
At the heart of the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro is the new Apple A15 Bionic chipset, which includes a six-core processor (2 powerful and 4 efficient cores), a faster neural engine and five-core graphics. According to Apple, this is the fastest graphics chip in any smartphone. Apple has also inflated storage, you can now purchase a variant with 1TB of memory.
Thanks to a more efficient processor, Apple was able to increase endurance; the smaller iPhone 13 Pro manages to be on reception for an hour and a half longer than the previous generation, the iPhone 13 Pro Max even adds 2.5 hours. However, the Lightning port is still used for charging, or wireless charging including MagSafe technology. The phones have also improved in terms of wireless connectivity since theirs 5G the modem supports multiple bands. However, the presence of satellite communication was not confirmed.
iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max will be offered in four colors – blue, silver, gold and gray. The body of both phones is made of surgical steel, the glass surface is then protected by Ceramic Shield. Water resistance meeting IP68 protection has been maintained. In both models, there was a slight intergenerational increase in weight and especially thickness, which means that last year’s cases will probably not fit you on this year’s iPhones; at least Apple sells them separately in its store.
