Macro mode is far from being something new on a smartphone. But it is known that when Apple bets on something, it ends up giving it another media importance. This is the case for the new macro mode, included in the ultrawide lens of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
An ophthalmologist, Dr. Tommy Korn, thought it would be a good idea to start using this mode in his consultations. And then he started analyzing his patients’ eyes using the macro mode of his new iPhone 13 Pro Max.
It will innovate patient eye care and telemedicine, says Tommy Korn
“I’m using the iPhone 13 Pro Max for macro shots this week. Impressed. It will innovate patient eye care and telemedicine. Let’s see how far it goes. The photos are from the healing of an abrasion to a corneal transplant. Permission was obtained to use the photos,” wrote Tommy Korn in his LinkedIn post.
“PS: this “Camera Pro” also includes a phone app!” joked the ophthalmologist. Remember that with this new mode, users can take pictures up to two centimeters away from the subject.
It’s worth noting that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max feature an ultrawide lens with an f/1.8 aperture and a 120-degree field of view. And this macro mode is also available in video, even in slow motion or timelapse.
As Gizmochina says, if you have one of these smartphones the macro mode automatically activates when you get close to an object. However, Apple has already stated that in the future it will be possible to do it manually.
