During its keynote tomorrow, September 14, Apple will announce its new iPhone 13, and should offer the same versions as for the iPhone 12 with mini, 13, Pro and Pro Max versions. But the surprise could come from the storage capacity.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could abandon the 64 GB capacity and decline the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. But above all, the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max would benefit in addition to a configuration with 1 TB of storage!
Why offer a smartphone with 1 TB? To offer a technological showcase, but also to meet a possible need if the new iPhones gain momentum in terms of video, with, for example, the arrival of 8K. In this case, it will imperatively need a large storage capacity, knowing that Apple does not allow the use of microSD cards as an extension.

This is not the first time that a smartphone has been offered with 1TB of storage. In 2019, Samsung tried the experiment with a “Performance” edition of its S10 +, sold for 1609 euros and equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The manufacturer then abandoned this capability for its S20. In China, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra and the Asus ROG Phone 2 are available with 1TB of storage.
Finally, Ming-Chi Kuo specifies in his report that Apple could suffer the consequences of the current shortage of components, which could cause production problems.
