iPhone 13 comes in new colors and iPhone 14 leaked (iPhone news #36)

iPhone 13, iPhone 13 and a little iPhone 14. Last week was all about the new Apple smartphones. This is the weekly overview of the most important iPhone news.

Read on after the ad.

iPhone 13 coming on September 14

September 14 is the day. Then the Apple event of the year takes place. During a livestream we expect the presentation of the iPhone 13, AirPods 3 and a new Apple Watch. And sure enough: this time too Apple has hidden some hints in the invitation.

For example, we think the pink iPhone 13 is coming, thanks to the rosy hue of the sunset. The invitation also hints at astrophotography, one of the suspected pillars of the iPhone 13 Pro (Max).

iPhone 14 leaked: no notch and new design

The iPhone 13 has not even been announced yet, but the first images of its alleged successor have already appeared. Last week left Jon Prosser view renders of the iPhone 14.

Several things stand out about the design. For example, we see that the iPhone 14 has no notch (screen notch) and gets a different type of housing (made of titanium). Also notable: Face ID below the screen would only come to the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro (Max).

‘iPhone 13 chip is much faster than Android competitors’

Back to the iPhone 13. The device will be presented on Tuesday and has surfaced in a benchmark. Such a test shows how powerful the processor of a smartphone is. Small spoiler: the iPhone 13 is going to be very, very fast.

In fact, the expected A15 chip is a lot more powerful than the Exynos 2200. This processor will most likely power the Samsung Galaxy S22, the nemesis of the iPhone 13.

That’s how fast the processor of the iPhone 13

Why the iPhone is likely to get more expensive in the future

With suggested retail prices starting at more than 800 euros, iPhones are not the most affordable smartphones, but you may pay a little more in the future. Nikkei Asia (via MacRumors) reports that chip manufacturer TSMC is going to increase the prices of chips due to global chip shortages.

TSMC is an important chip manufacturer for Apple and makes, for example, the important A-processors that are in iPhones. In the iPhone 12devices, for example, the powerful A14 chip, TSMC also makes the M1 chip that is in various Macs.

Why the iPhone may become more expensive

Germany wants seven years of iOS updates for iPhones: will the Netherlands follow?

Apple’s iPhones are known for being supported for a long time – often up to five years. However, through the European Union, Germany wants to enforce a longer term. They advocate mandatory security updates of seven years.

The European Commission is working on a bill requiring mobile device manufacturers to release software updates for at least five years. Also, spare parts have to be delivered for another five years; for tablets, it is six years.

iPhone 13 will come in three new colors, including pink

iphone 13 colors rumor pink

We will of course conclude with the iPhone 13. It seems that the new device will appear in several new colors. A foreign webshop has already put it on sale and you can choose from six versions.

It is striking that the green color of the iPhone 12 (mini) makes way for pink. Are you going for the iPhone 13 Pro (Max)? Then you can choose from four ‘flavors’ in total, including two new colors: bronze and black. If the rumor is true, the graphite and ocean blue options of the iPhone 12 Pro (Max) are therefore off.

comes the iPhone 13 in these colors?
