iPhone 12 won’t get 120Hz screens. The most compact model will receive a reduced “bangs”

Authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo announced today that the upcoming iPhone 12 series smartphones will not receive 120Hz displays. According to him, Apple took such a step in order to ensure high autonomy of new devices. Kuo speculates that low-power 120Hz LTPO displays will only debut on iPhones next year.

The analyst also added that the most affordable 5.4-inch iPhone 12 will get a much narrower cutout than the older models. This is due to the need to leave room for displaying information about the signal strength of the cellular network and the battery charge on the sides of the “bangs”.

However, it is unclear how Apple will fit the TrueDepth facial scanning system in a smaller area. Kuo also revealed that the 6.1- and 6.7-inch iPhones will get the same cutouts as the iPhone 11. Among other things, the analyst confirmed that all iPhone 12 models will receive support for fifth-generation cellular networks.

When it comes to Apple’s online event tomorrow, Kuo says the company will only showcase the Apple Watch and an updated iPad Air with a design similar to the iPad Pro. Recall that the analyst previously reported that the new tablet will receive a Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the power button and a USB Type-C connector, as in professional models.
