We have already written several times about the possible delay in the launch of the new iPhone. Its cause is the COVID-19 pandemic that has been going on for months. They caused problems in the supply chain – both for Apple itself and for the partners supplying the company with key components.
According to information shared on Twitter by Jon Prosser, a market analyst and one of the better informed sources in the industry, Apple has a schedule of device releases ready and will not be presented simultaneously, as was the case in previous years.
Prosser suggests that On September 7, Apple will present the new Apple Watch and iPad. However, this will not happen on the Steve Jobs Theater stage. Company from Cupertino, he will limit himself only to the press release sent to the media. Apple has already made such “silent premieres”. We can mention the 9.7-inch iPad and several other devices.
Jon Prosser: The launch of the new iPhone October 12
We will wait a bit longer for the iPhone 12. Prosser’s information shows that its presentation is scheduled for October 12. This time, however, it will be full-fledged “Apple Special Event”, although it is still not known whether with the participation of journalists or online.
During the conference, Apple will present four iPhone 12 models:
- 5.4-inch iPhone 12 with OLED screen and dual camera;
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Max with OLED screen and dual camera;
- 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro with OLED screen and triple camera;
- 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max with OLED screen and triple camera.
Prosser suggests that pre-sales of the first two models will start on October 12, for the units will go on sale on October 19. People interested in “Pro” models will have to be patient. Their pre-sale is to start only in November. When exactly? This is still a mystery.
iPhone 12 – what do we know about the new Apple smartphones?
All four phones are to be equipped with an organic OLED matrix, which means that Apple will eventually abandon LCD screens in its smartphones. “Pro” models will be equipped with screens with ProMotion technology and refreshing 120 Hz.
There are many indications that the appearance of the iPhone 12 will refer to the iconic iPhone 4 and break with the more “rounded” stylist that started the iPhone 6. Renders have already appeared on the network that show the expected appearance of the new iPhone.
The iPhone 12 is to be equipped with the A14 chip made in 5 nm technology, produced by TSMC. As for RAM, the iPhone 12 and 12 Max will get 4 GB, and the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max – 6 GB. The two cheaper variants will also have 128 GB or 256 GB of data memory, and the more expensive models will have an option with 512 GB.
Most experts agree that each of this year’s models will receive support for the 5G network. More mobile operators (also in Poland) launch their 5G transmitters. It can therefore be expected that it will become the standard in the coming 2-3 years.
